Astronomy for Mature Audiences

With Brother Guy Consolmagno - Director, Vatican Observatory

October 19 – November 13

Astronomy is the perfect “gateway” science; you don’t need advanced math, or expensive equipment, to enjoy looking at the stars! But the more you know, the more fun it becomes. This course provides an opportunity for busy adults to become more familiar with the sky and what we have learned about what’s up there. Over four weeks we will learn how to follow the Moon and pick out the major constellations; we’ll understand how (and why) the sky changes over the year; we’ll see how telescopes and the tools of modern science have let us see deeper into the universe; and we’ll ponder what’s currently happening at the frontiers of astronomy, in planetary exploration, the Big Bang theory, and our search for life in the universe.

This program is being brought to you by Arrupe Virtual, the Vatican Observatory and its Foundation.
