AVLI Courses Taken
What piece of advice would you give a student considering taking an AVLI course?
As the courses are online, a number of different platforms and websites are used so get ready to be staring at a screen a lot.
If you're taking classes in-person or have sports and other extracurriculars going on, it can be incredibly helpful to work ahead. You'll be able to see how far into the course you are and the breaks are given upfront in the syllabus, but they might not be the same as your schools, so don't assume anything.
The course is pretty self-lead, but still reach out to your course teachers and even teachers you know at your school. Though there will likely be some weekly zoom meeting, your teachers are willing to schedule with you one on one to help you succeed.
What surprised you most about your AVLI course experience?
I found it really nice to be able to see what would be due throughout the week - not something I normally have with my at school classes. Even though check-ins are required for the courses I am taking, teachers are pretty flexible and as long as you make sure to do your work it isn't the end of the world if you're not able to make the zoom meetings. The flexibility also goes for if I have a lot going on and might not be able to submit something by the due date. The teachers are willing to work with you.
