Teaches the following AVLI courses
What's your favorite part about teaching AVLI courses?
The students are my favorite part of teaching with AVLI. Having the opportunity to engage with students from all over about Psychology - teaching and learning from them - is a privilege. Every year I develop relationships with students who I would otherwise never have the opportunity to know.
What advice would you give to students considering taking an AVLI course or their parents?
You need to do five things:
Be curious, be patient, be open-minded, be self-directed, and be excited.
What PD opportunities have you participated in and what was your experience?
When I began teaching for AVLI I was very skeptical. As a traditional classroom teacher and school counselor I did not anticipate how an online/virtual experience could bring the same level of meaning and purpose. It only took a few weeks for me to realize that I had been thinking about it all wrong. My time at the Summer Teaching Institute was the beginning of what would turn out to be a love for the virtual experience and AVLI.
More on Matt's AVLI Experience.
Any student or teacher who is curious about teaching and learning online should be open to the experience. It's been a wonderful grace in my life - and had I not taken the risk to do something new I would have missed out on a great experience.
