In this introductory course, students will learn the basic elements of Latin grammar, syntax, and vocabulary. Students will also study the Latin-based etymological roots of common English word families and selected topics from Roman history, culture, and mythology. By the end of the course, students will be able to read short, authentic Latin texts and write original Latin sentences using basic Latin grammar and vocabulary. This course requires weekly engagement but is primarily asynchronous which allows students to work around their school schedule. There is a synchronous meeting that will take place one evening per week that students are expected to attend. Meeting times to be determined at the beginning of the term.
