Arrupe Virtual Learning Institute Joins Global “Rome Call for AI Ethics” Initiative

OMAHA, NE (December 10, 2025) — Arrupe Virtual Learning Institute (AVLI) has been informed that its petition to join the Rome Call for AI Ethics has been officially accepted. The Rome Call is a global initiative launched by the Vatican to promote the ethical development and use of artificial intelligence. The partnership underscores AVLI’s commitment to forming students who can engage emerging technologies with integrity, discernment, and a focus on human dignity.
Founded by the Vatican’s Pontifical Academy for Life in collaboration with industry, academic, and faith leaders, the Rome Call advocates for six guiding principles: transparency, inclusion, responsibility, impartiality, reliability, and security and privacy, to ensure that AI serves humanity rather than the other way around.
“We are honored to have been accepted to participate in this important movement as the responsible development and adoption of AI is critical,” AVLI President Jeff Hausman states. “We intend to contribute to the Rome Call through our service to our member Catholic schools.”
AVLI’s mission to expand access to high-quality online education is deeply aligned with the Rome Call’s vision for a human-centered digital future. Through this collaboration, AVLI seeks to help Catholic schools and educators explore how AI can enhance learning while staying true to ethical and spiritual foundations.
